Established in 1992, the Global Awareness House has four bedrooms and comfortably houses an average of five residents and one Resident Assistant. Residents of the Global Awareness House focus on raising campus awareness about world issues such as hunger, population, and human rights. In the past, some events that The Global House has sponsored include the hunger banquet, forums featuring professors from Whitman’s Politics Department, and student discussions about topics such as culture shock.
This house is not affiliated with an academic department, although the residents still have a faculty adviser.
Residents of the Global Awareness House are responsible for completing weekly chores, having active involvement within the house and the Interest House Community, and promoting Global Awareness House-sponsored events and activities.
