Whitman This Week
Every Monday throughout the summer, Senior Associate Dean of Students Juli Dunn sends all new students helpful emails to prepare for joining us on campus in the Fall of 2023. If you happen to miss one, or would like to go back and read a previous email, we have them listed here.
Dear Whittie,
Welcome to Whitman College! Congratulations on your college decision. I am Juli Dunn, Senior Associate Dean of Students. Great to meet you, Whitties!
Now, you may be wondering, what’s next?
Each Monday throughout the summer, I will send you an email with important information, tips and deadlines. (Today’s is a special Tuesday edition! 😉)
First Things First: What’s Due Soon
Today, I’d like to encourage you to complete three critical Whitman tasks. You’ll want to take care of these as soon as possible.
1. Activate your Whitman email account. Once activated, please check it regularly. That’s where you’ll receive your Monday emails from me, and all your student email as a Whittie.
Your ID number: To activate your Whitman email account, you’ll need your Whitman ID number—also known as your WID#. [Students receive their WID# by email.]
2. Send us your pic! Be on the lookout for an email this week about your official Whitman ID card. You’ll use your card for so many things around campus, including entering buildings and buying food. You’re going to have a close relationship—and it needs a photo of you. The email will direct you to a platform to directly upload your picture. In the meantime: Tips for your ID card photo.
3. Tell us how to say your name: We want to pronounce it correctly. It’s a simple thing, but it matters. Please use this online form to upload your recording.
Away from email this summer—for two weeks or more? Let Us Know Here
Soon, I'll share more information about housing/roommates, advising, registering for classes and more!
In the meantime, if you have any questions about anything, please do not hesitate to email me and I will make sure you get an answer.
Again, welcome to Whitman—we’re very excited about you joining us in the fall!

Dear Whittie,
We’re counting down the weeks until you join us on campus.
For those of us preparing for your arrival, this time will fly by as we finalize housing assignments, advising, registration and Opening Week activities.
Let’s do this ... I'll just launch right in ...
Here are important updates and items for your to-do list and calendar.
Starting this week: Know Before You Go! In these Virtual Orientation sessions, me and some of my besties from around campus will chat about everything Whitman. First up, the awesome staff from Residence Life and Housing. We’ll talk about living at Whitman and answer your questions about roommates, housing assignments, Move-In Day, etc. The Know Before You Go series is geared for you and your family! All are welcome to participate.
Speaking of housing ... Be sure to submit your housing questionnaire. You can find it in your applicant portal. (Please note: You still access it with the email you used to apply.) The questionnaire is designed to help you think about your future living situation and preferences while giving us the information we need to consider the best housing option for you. Have you looked at the options?! Browse halls.
Happening Soon: Group Advising. In a couple of weeks, June 21–22, I'll meet online with first-year and transfer students to discuss advising, classes you need to take, registration and expectations around academic integrity. There will be four sessions to choose from and you can pick one that works for you! No sign-up needed, just Zoom in when the time comes. Note: All times are Pacific Time!
There's more: If you haven't already, please do these three key Whittie steps:
Activate your Whitman email account. This will also give you access to my-new.Whitman. This is where you’ll complete online forms, search for classes, etc. Check your Whitman email on a regular basis, like on Mondays when you’ll hear from me!
Your ID number: To activate your Whitman email account, you’ll need your Whitman ID number (also known as your WID#). [Students receive their WID# by email.]
Send us your pic! You should have received an email about your official Whitman ID card—which needs a photo of you. The email directs you to a platform to directly upload your picture. In the meantime: Tips for your ID card photo.
Say your name. We want to pronounce it correctly. Please use this online form to upload your recording.
Once again, we are thrilled you have decided to call Whitman home.
All the best,
Juli Dunn

Hello,
Happy holiday weekend! Can you believe it’s July already?!
As you prepare to join us on campus, maybe you are wondering how to transfer your college credits.
To transfer any college credit, there are two different forms. If you took Running Start or Dual Enrollment courses during high school, please use the Credit Transfer Form in your applicant portal.
If you took college courses AFTER high school, you can report those classes for credit using the Transfer Credit Eligibility (TCE) form. It’s very important that you send your final transcripts to the Office of Admission as soon as possible—also due by July 15. Please note that you need to use your Whitman ID and email account for the TCE form.
