Whitman Ultra-Cold Freezer Loaned to Local Hospital for Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Storage
January 13, 2021 • Before the first Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines could begin arriving in Walla Walla to immunize local health care workers, some logistics had to be figured out. When Providence St. Mary Medical Center was unable to get a freezer delivered in time, Whitman professors Brit Moss and Jim Russo stepped up and took action.

Whitman Geology Professor Discovers Evidence of Giant Underwater Volcano
December 23, 2020 • A giant volcano may be hidden beneath the waters off the southwestern coast of Alaska. The discovery is the result of years of research by scientists from across the country including Whitman Geology Professor Kirsten Nicolaysen and her team of student researchers.

Whitman Mathematics Professor Hopes to Connect Others with Local Advocacy Program for Children
December 15, 2020 • Walla Walla Child Advocates is a volunteer-based advocacy program for children in foster care. The program's mission is to provide culturally sensitive, best interest advocacy to children within the court system who have experienced abuse or neglect. Albert Schueller, a mathematics professor at Whitman College, has been a Walla Walla Child Advocate for seven years.
