Each year at Commencement, Whitman College is pleased to acknowledge and honor an outstanding elementary, middle or high school teacher who contributed to the academic and individual success of a Whitman senior. By conferring the Distinguished Teaching Award, Whitman celebrates the exceptional contributions of special teachers who have guided and inspired members of your class.

The winning teacher will receive a monetary award and be publicly acknowledged at the 2022 Commencement ceremony. It is a great honor for both the teacher and the graduating senior who nominated them.

Please take time over the next few weeks to remember a special teacher who positively influenced you and consider nominating them for this award.

  • Nominations may be submitted for teachers of grades K through 12.

  • Only members of the graduating senior class may nominate teachers.

  • The deadline for nominations is 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

Please note: you'll need to log in with your Whitman account to see the nomination form - if you're logged into another Google account you'll need to log out of it then log back in with your Whitman credentials.
