Honor Societies

Two national honor societies have established chapters at Whitman:

Delta Phi Alpha, the national German honor society, seeks to foster and recognize excellence in the field. Whitman’s chapter, Sigma Alpha, was founded in November 2006.

Whitman’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa was established in 1920. New members are selected each spring. To be selected, a student must excel in a broad range of courses in the arts and sciences.
