“HYPERSPATIAL: Comics & Character in the Fourth Dimension”

Feb. 9–April 5, 2024
The spotlit creators for this show are Sebastian Jones and his many collaborators. Jones is the founder of Stranger Comics, which features all black writers and visual artists in all of its productions. One of his collaborators, Sheeba Maya, is another featured artist in the exhibition who is a painter, bookmaker, illustrator and so much more. The work presented focuses on both real and invented portraits of black women. The third leg of the show features two artists from Thailand, Pornsak Pichetshote and Alexandre Tefengki, and we are creating cityscapes to frame their comic about San Francisco's Chinatown in 1936 in a detective noir.
