Sept. 3 Wallula Gap Hiking and education Enjoy your first weekend on campus hiking at Wallula Gap and learning about some of our geographical and cultural history of the area!
Sept. 4 Opening week stargazing Enjoy your first weekend on campus seeing STARS, both in new people and literal stars.
Sept. 10-12 Trail Work on the John Day Partnering with the Blues Crew, we will be doing some trail work on the North Fork of the John Day Trail.
Sept. 10-12 Weekend Deschutes Rafting Trip Spend the weekend rafting the Deschutes! No previous experience needed.
Sept. 11 Nature Illustration What a view! Head to Wallula Gap with some art supplies and some fun folk to do some art inspired by amazing scenery.
Sept. 11 Beginning Mountain Biking Learn the basics of mountain biking on a casual ride up the Mill Creek Trail to ride at Bennington Lake. No previous experience necessary, mountain bike, helmet, and rental clothing included.
Sept. 17-18 Rafting Rafting on the Deschutes! Spend a night car camping before spending Saturday rafting the river.
Sept. 18 SUP Spend the day Stand Up Paddleboarding on Palouse. No previous experience necessary.
Sept. 19 Swimming hole hike Enjoy a lovely hike up Umatilla Fork to find a swimming hole. Cool off with a quick plunge and a paddle around before heading back down the trail.
Sept. 24-26 Surf Zone Sea kayaking on the Oregon Coast! No previous experience necessary.
Sept. 25 Hiking Spend the day hiking Tiger Canyon! No experience necessary.
Sept. 26 Intermediate Mountain Biking Enjoy a more challenging ride on the Umatilla Rim Trail! Previous MTB experience encouraged, but not required.
Oct. 1-3 Weekend Climbing Spend the weekend climbing and car camping at Smith Rock!
Oct. 1-2 Hiking (strenuous) Spend an evening car camping before heading up Sacagewea Peak. This will be a strenuous hike.
Oct. 2 SUP Spend the day Stand Up Paddleboarding on Jubilee Lake. No previous experience necessary.
Oct. 7 Outdoor Writing and Contemplation Bike around Walla Walla before finding a nice spot to reflect on the semester so far with some writing and mindfulness exercises.
Oct. 10 Gear Tour Spend an afternoon learning about some of the gear that the OP rental shop has to offer! Learn to set up a tent, start a stove, protect your food from predators (bears and friends alike) and more!
Oct. 15-17 Eagle Cap Backpacking Spend the weekend backpacking in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. No previous experience required!
Oct. 16 Birding Head to McNary Wildlife Refuge to hike around the paved trails and observe some amazing aviary action!
Oct. 17 Beginning Mountain Biking Learn the basics of mountain biking on a casual ride up the Mill Creek Trail to ride at Bennington Lake. No previous experience necessary, mountain bike, helmet, and rental clothing included.
Oct. 22 Nature Photography Head to Palouse Falls to engage in photography of the amazing views and scenery!
Oct. 23 Intermediate Mountain Biking Enjoy a more challenging ride on the Umatilla Rim Trail! Previous MTB experience encouraged, but not required.
Oct. 23 Plant ID Stroll Head to Bennington Lake to learn about some local flora.
Oct. 24 Bike and Service Partnering with a local business, bike and do some community service.
Oct. 24 Flatewater Kayaking Kayak on Palouse for a day! No experience required.
Oct. 29 Backpacking Dinner Enjoy an outdoor prepped and consumed meal at Harris Park.
Oct. 31 Canoeing Spend a day Canoeing at Wallula Gap.
Nov. 5 Entomology Day Hike Learn about BUGS by hiking around Harris Park!

Nov. 7 Bike the wheat fields Bike around the local wheat fields and see new parts of Walla Walla! This is not a mountain biking trip.
Nov. 13 Day Hike Hike up Tiger Ridge! No experience necessary.
Nov. 13 Walla Walla Watershed Bike Route Curious about the water of Walla Walla? Me too. Bike some of the Walla Walla Watershed to learn about our local water sources and flood control here. Partnering with the Army Core of Engineers.
Nov. 14 Afternoon Climbing Head to Wallulla Gap for an afternoon of climbing!
Dec. 4 Welcoming a Winter Wonderland Head up to Andes Prairie where, depending on snow levels, you will snowshoe, hike, or XC ski as we Welcome Winter and our winter break!
Dec. 5 Nurture Nature Let's round off this semester and take a break from studying to appreciate the natural world around us. Head to a beautiful place and reflect with mindfulness and writing and art.
