Future Gift Plan
Do you have a will or living trust?
Will
To include Whitman in your will, please meet with your attorney to draft a codicil to designate Whitman as a beneficiary of your estate. If you have specific wishes for how the college uses your gift, please contact the Office of Gift Planning to discuss your interest in supporting particular college programs. The Office of Gift Planning can assist you when evaluating the ideal assets or structure for your gift. We suggest using the following language in your will:
"I give, devise, and bequeath to the Board of Trustees of Whitman College, an educational corporation located in Walla Walla, Washington, . . . [insert description of the gift as a dollar amount, percentage of the estate, a detailed or legal description of the property, or the residue of the total estate], . . . for such use as deemed appropriate by the Board of Trustees of Whitman College. . . [or insert a description of the purpose of the gift]."
