Staff Committees
The Whitman Staff Advisory Council (SAC) wants to make it easy for Whitman staff members to participate in institutional committees and college governance. The committee database listed below includes all committees that have seats for staff members. Click the "plus" sign for a description of the committee. Also listed is the committee chair or contact person, the vice president who oversees the committee, the number of staff members needed for the committee and the terms of service. We encourage all staff members who are interested in serving on a committee to reach out to the committee chair to inquire about open seats and how to get involved.

Charge (Purpose):
The function of this Committee is to evaluate and make recommendations regarding proposals, gifts, and the placement of significant additions to the College's art collection, most specifically Whitman's campus sculpture collection. The AAC is also in charge of making direct acquisitions to enhance/expand the campus sculpture collection through the use of the Gaiser Art Endowment.
Charge (Purpose):
The mission of the Whitman College Collections is to enhance the educational mission of Whitman College and to preserve the material heritage of Whitman College, the Walla Walla community, and the Southeastern Washington region. As a major repository for art and artifacts that are important to the history and culture of the College and the wider community, the Collections serve multiple purposes: 1. To advance the educational objectives of Whitman College by presenting exhibitions and programs that support the curriculum, acquiring relevant objects and artworks, and providing study and research opportunities for faculty and students. 2: To contribute to the cultural life of the Walla Walla community and the greater Southeastern Washington region. 3: To preserve and present the history of Whitman College and the Walla Walla community and to serve as a historical resource for local, regional, and national audiences.
Charge (Purpose):
Advise the College in developing a budget that reflects the College's top priorities. Whitman College's budget is a reflection of the College's strategic planning and links financial resources with the top priorities of the College.
Charge (Purpose):
As part of the Institutional Analytics strategy, one of the core needs is appropriate data governance to guide the priorities and needs of the College with regard to analytics. To address this need, we have formed the Data Advisory Group (DAG). The charge of the group is as follows: To establish a clear, shared understanding of what the data means and create clearly defined, transparent processes across the college data systems

Whitman Off-Campus Study applications are reviewed by the OCS committee. The OSCS is a faculty committee with representation from all three academic division, the Registrar, the Provost's Office and the OCS Office.

Provide basic oversight of the program. Hire and train instructors, set the schedule, develop and monitor the budget.
Charge (Purpose):
Whitman College has formed an employee safety committee as directed by WAC 296-800-13020, to help employees and management work together to identify safety problems. Committee duties include, review of safety and health inspection reports to help correct safety hazards, evaluating accident investigations to determine if the cause(s) of the unsafe situation was identified and corrected, evaluating the workplace accident and illness prevention program and discuss recommendations for improvement if needed.

Reviews existing employee benefit programs and makes recommendations for the improvement, addition or deletion of programs. Committee will review the cost, utilization and efficacy of the health programs specifically, and other employee welfare programs. The committee represents different areas and constituencies and makes recommendations to the President's Cabinet.
Charge (Purpose):
Process advisers are volunteers that with the approval of their supervisors are willing to get trained to serve as a process adviser for someone going through the Grievance process. As for investigators, the current team we had were identified by cabinet members a few years back and underwent training through a national certifying agency. I'm happy to take all volunteers for either of these two roles. Since they are purely volunteering and can have a ton load of hours, they really only make sense for exempt employees.
