Reunion Weekend Schedule

1-5 p.m.
50+ Exploration for alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago, featuring lectures and presentations in the Hall of Science. Convene in the Hall of Science Atrium at the entry closest to Harper Joy Theatre.

• 1:30 p.m. – Presentation in the Planetarium with Andrea Dobson ’83, Professor of Astronomy.
• 2:45 p.m. – Earthquakes and Tsunamis in Western Washington with Bob Carson, Professor of Geology Emeritus.
• 4 p.m. – Sound Waves talk and demonstration with Kurt Hoffman, Professor of Physics.

5–6:30 p.m.
40th Reunion Reception hosted by President Sarah Bolton at Sherwood House, 1107 Alvarado Terrace. Hearty hors d’oeuvres and beverages provided.

6–7:30 p.m.
50+ Dinner for those who graduated 50 or more years ago. Enjoy burgers, fries, mac salad and chocolate cake from the Blues Bites food truck! Patio at the Blues Brews Taphouse (the old Mill Creek Brew Pub), 11 S. Palouse St.

8 a.m. to noon
Classroom visits - schedule will be available at the check-in desk starting Thursday.

John “Jack” Rasmussen ’71, C. Nicholas Keating and Carleen B. Keating Director of the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center and winner of the 2026 Sally Rodgers Award for Lifelong Achievement, will present "Concerning Culture: The Role of Museums," discussing the socially- and politically-engaged art he has curated at the museum over the last 20 years. Olin Hall Auditorium.

11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Archives Reunion Open House. Visit the Whitman College and Northwest Archives on the ground floor of Penrose Library to view material from throughout the college's history.

1–2:30 p.m.
Alumni Awards Presentation, Baker Center, 364 Boyer Ave., Celebrate outstanding alumni with members of the Alumni Association Board and friends, family and classmates of the award winners. Honorees include Linda King Brewer ’66, Jack Rasmussen ’71, Chris Bothun ’86, and Gillian Friedman ’16.

2:30–6 p.m.
Climbing Wall at Sherwood Center. Alumni and families are invited to climb! The minimum age for climbing is 6 years old. Adaptive systems are available upon request; body harnesses are on hand for all shapes and sizes. Adventurous spirits are welcome!

2:30–3:30 p.m.
Class of 1986 tour of the Walla Walla Foundry, 405 Woodland Ave. Long pants and closed-toed shoes required. Shuttles available at Cordiner Hall starting at 2:15.

3–4:30 p.m.
In Memoriam Observance for all 50+ Classes. Alumni who graduated more than 50 years ago are invited to gather to remember and reflect on classmates who have passed. Yearbooks, Pioneers and Look Books will be available. Baker Center, 364 Boyer Ave.

3:30–5 p.m.
Whitties Helping Whitties. Kick off your reunion weekend with an excellent opportunity to meet other alumni working in your professional field. WHW events are also a wonderful way to share your experience and career trajectory with interested students. Join the conversation! Cordiner Hall Foyer and Patio.

4–6 p.m.
Class of ’95 Gathering at the home of John ’95 and ’Brielle Baker Cunnison ’95. 607 Hill Rd.

5 p.m.
Friday Shabbat Service, in the Amphitheatre or in the All Faiths Room in Reid Campus Center, depending upon the weather.

6–9 p.m.
All-Class Party. Celebrate Reunion Weekend at this great new downtown location! Meet up with your classmates to mix and mingle with alumni and families from all the reunion classes. Enjoy a taste of the Walla Walla culinary scene with choices from local food trucks. Drinks available for purchase. Heritage Square Park, 116 E. Main St.

6–11 p.m.
Whittie Kids. Childcare for ages 5-14 will be active and education focused including games, crafts, and a movie. Snack provided. No walk-ins accepted. Baker Center, 364 Boyer Ave.

9–11 p.m.
Class of 2001 Coffeehouse Jam. Take it back to a jam session at Coffeehouse. Featuring musicians Marc Sidel ’01, Brendan McCracken ’01 and Dave Shur ’01. Want to participate? Reunion Convocation: A Celebration of Classes. The program will include the recognition of classes and reunion co-chairs, celebration of Alumni Award recipients, the presentation of reunion fund class gifts and remarks by Whitman’s 15th President Sarah Bolton. Deschler Auditorium in Maxey Hall.

12–1:30 p.m.
All Class Oktoberfest on the green space between Stanton Hall and Cleveland Commons. Beer Garden for 21+.

12 p.m.
Alumni and Students of Color Cookout. Be in community with alumni and students of color. Enjoy food and games at the Glover Alston Intercultural Center. Featuring local bites, 26 Boyer Ave.

1:30–3 p.m.
Class of 1996 Headquarters at the Amphitheatre. Drop in, hang out, and meet your classmates here for some 1996er fun! This event is BYOB. 

1:30–2:30
Tour Nancy Serrurier Village, Whitman’s Jr./Sr. living space! Meet at Harvey Hall and take a tour of the site with Andrew Johnson ’09, Assistant Dean of Students, Director of Residence Life & Housing. Space is limited! Since this is a hall where students are living and studying, we must be as respectful as we can of their space. If the tour fills up, alumni are welcome to wander the grounds around the Village and enjoy the beautiful landscape. 34 Boyer Ave.

2–3:30 p.m.
Academic Department Gatherings. Meet with faculty to hear what's happening in your major! Harvey Hall, McMurchie Lounge, 34 Boyer Ave. Music - Physics - Politics - check back for more!

Campus Tour - 2001 Edition! Get a Whitman tour from the perspective only the Class of 2001 can appreciate! Led by Heidi Pitts ’01. Meet in front of Reid Campus Center, 280 Boyer Ave.

2–3 p.m.
Out After Whitman Community Circle + Mingle. Gather in circle with other LGBTQIA+ alumni for a moment of community reflection and time to mingle. Light refreshments provided. Stanton Back Lawn Patio, between Stanton Hall and Mill Creek.

2–4 p.m.
Intergenerational Debate: Join the Whitman Debate team in Hunter Conservatory for a chance to mingle with old teammates, meet new ones, and connect the program across generations. The debate will showcase JP Smith ‘97, Grace Fashanu ‘22, Courtney Whitmore Wyckoff ‘97, and Reeve Boyer ‘22. 

2–3 p.m.
Class of 1997 Lawn Games on Ankey Field. Hangout on Ankeny to play assorted games on the field. Featuring classics such as cornhole, can jam and giant jenga. Don’t wanna play? This is a great opportunity to just hang out in the sun or shade! Location: In front of the tennis courts and library on Ankeny.

Alumni Batting Practice and Home Run Derby. Alumni are invited to head to Borleske for batting practice and participate in a Home Run Derby. Batting practice begins at 3:30, Home Run Derby at 4:30. Ballpark snacks will be available! Borleske Stadium, 409 E Rees Ave.
