2023 Reunion Weekend
Whitman College’s Alumni Reunion is a yearly gathering for alumni, current students, faculty and staff to reconnect, celebrate and learn about the college. Attendees can participate in special events and activities, class reunions and hear updates from college leaders.

40th Reunion Early-Bird Gathering for the Class of 1983. No-host meetup for anyone in town before the reception at Sherwood House. Big House Brew Pub, 11 S. Palouse.
5–6:30 p.m.
40th Reunion Reception for the Class of 1983 hosted by President Sarah Bolton. Hearty hors d'oeuvres and beverages provided. Sherwood House, 1107 Alvarado Terrace.
7–9 p.m.
45th Reunion Thursday Night Social Club. Classmate Jim Edmunds opens his Walla Walla office for early arrivers! Refreshments provided by the Alumni Association. Ingeniux, 115 W. Alder.

Class Visitations. Stop at the desk in Reid Campus Center for a list of available classes to visit. Please keep general classroom etiquette in mind; alumni are there to observe. If you arrive after the class has begun, do not enter the classroom—pick another class to visit (and don’t be late)!

Visit the Whitman Mission National Historic Site, 328 Whitman Mission Road. Park Ranger Kate Kunkel-Patterson ’13 welcomes alumni to tour the grounds and the Great Grave, visit the museum and view a short film about the complex relationship of the Whitmans with the Cayuse people. Kate and other rangers will provide talks throughout the morning. 55th, 60th and 65th Reunion classes may meet shuttles in front of Cordiner Hall starting at 8:45 a.m
10–11:30 a.m.
40th Reunion Coffee with the Profs. for the Class of 1983. Join the local Emeriti Math and Science Faculty for conversation and coffee (and tea). Hall of Science, Room 221.
10:30–11:45 a.m.
Alumni Author Talk. Presentation by Barry Stoddard ’85 on his latest publication, “Baikonur Man: Space, Science, American Ambition, and Russian Chaos at the Cold War's End.” The book chronicles his role as a graduate student at MIT to create an experimental payload to grow protein crystals in microgravity to fly on Russian rockets to the Soviet space station MIR, in the heat of the end of the cold war. Room G02 on the lower level of Reid Campus Center, 280 Boyer Ave.

1–2 p.m.
Faculty lecture with Jason Pribilsky ’93, Professor of Anthropology and Race and Ethnic Studies. In his presentation, “Studying Health and Disease the Cultural Way: Perspectives in Medical Anthropology,” Professor Pribilisky will talk about his work as a medical anthropologist and discuss various research projects, including his most recent investigations on cancer and gun violence. Alumni Awards Presentation and Reception. Reception for award recipients, their families, classmates and friends. Join Whitman’s 15th President, Sarah Bolton and members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors in honoring Gordon Scribner Award for Distinguished Service, Nancy Simon ’63; Sally Rodgers Award for Lifelong Achievement, Lynn Boose ’58; Pete Reid Award for Young Alumni, Kate Kunkel-Peterson ’13; and Trailblazer Award for Diversity and Inclusion, Shireen Nori ’16. Whitman Athletics Meet and Greet
Join us for this meet and greet to connect with coaches and athletic department staff members. This is a great opportunity to connect with each other and to also meet those within the Athletics Department. Light refreshments will be served. Sherwood Center Foyer; enter on the Mem side.

Kick off your reunion weekend with Whitties Helping Whitties—an excellent opportunity to meet other alumni working in your professional field and also a wonderful way to share your experience and career trajectory with interested students. Join the conversation! Cordiner Hall porch, 46 S. Park St.

Fifty-Plus Reception for the Classes of 1958, 1963 and 1968 as well as any alumni from the classes of 1972 and earlier. Hearty hors d'oeuvres and beverages provided. Baker Center lawn, 364 Boyer Ave.

30th Cluster Reunion of the Classes of 1992, 1993 and 1994 Live music & Food Trucks at Tranche, 705 Berney Drive. Meet your classmates for a no-host casual dinner and live tunes. Wine and beer available for purchase.
6–7:30 p.m.
55th Reunion dinner for the Class of 1968 at Reid Campus Center, 280 Boyer Ave. Enter the side lawn on Park St.

65th Reunion dinner for the Class of 1958 at Baker Center, 364 Boyer Ave.

60th Reunion dinner for the Class of 1963 at the Walla Walla Country Club, 1390 Country Club Road.

Whittie Kids. Childcare for ages 7–14 will be active and education focused including games, crafts, and a movie. Snack provided. No walk-ins accepted.
7–11 p.m.
All-Class Party. Join your friends and classmates as alumni take over the Reid Campus Center! Enjoy music from all the reunion classes, get your picture with friends in the photo booth or head downstairs to the Coffeehouse for quiet(er) conversation--this will be the one place you’ll be sure to meet up with your classmates. Beer, wine and mixed drinks available for purchase and light refreshments provided. Adults only. Photo ID required. Reid Campus Center, 280 Boyer Ave. Enter from the Boyer St. side.

40th Reunion class of 1983 is invited to join Associate Professor of Astronomy Andrea Dobson ’82 in Astronomy’s telescope lab atop the Hall of Science for some classic stargazing (weather permitting).

Be sure you find the right location for your class! When you arrive for your photo, please gather in the area designated for your class. Photos will be available for free download after the reunion.

Reunion Convocation: A Celebration of Classes. The program will include the recognition of each of the 13 reunion classes and reunion co-chairs, recognition of Alumni Award recipients, the presentation of reunion fund class gifts and remarks by Whitman's 15th President Sarah Bolton. Chism Recital Hall in the Hall of Music.
12-1:30 p.m.
All-Class Oktoberfest on the green space between Stanton Hall and Cleveland Commons. Enjoy bratwurst with sauerkraut, grilled onions, grain mustard, Beyond sausages and gluten-free buns; pretzels with beer cheese or grain mustard; German potato salad; German cucumber salad, and mini stout cupcakes frosted with orange buttercream. Lemonade, iced tea, sparkling water; Beer Garden for 21+.
1 p.m.
Alumni Baseball Game & Social. Meet for Alumni Check-In & Batting Practice at Borleske Stadium, 409 E. Rees Ave. The Alumni vs. Alumni Game will start at 2 p.m. on the DeSales Catholic High School field, 919 E Sumach St. Alumni and their guests are invited to join the Alumni/Team Social at 5 p.m. at Burwood Brewing, 1120 E St.

Adventure and Adversity on Mount Everest. Retired National Park Ranger Jason Ramsdell '93 presents a riveting account of his recent six week climb of Mount Everest. The arduous adventure was complicated by several mishaps during the deadliest year in the history of the mountain. Join Jason for a presentation on the climb, lessons learned, survival stories, reflection, and inspiration for your own adventures in life. Olin Hall Auditorium.

Fifty Plus Reunion Social and Reunion Dinner. Cocktails available in the lobby beginning at 5:30 p.m. Due to hazardous conditions at the Marcus Whitman Hotel, the Fifty Plus Reunion Dinner is moved to 6:30 p.m. at Foundry Vineyards, 1111 Abadie Street. Wine and beer are available for purchase.
