Printing Services
Enhancing Our Campus Printing Services
To better serve the needs of our faculty, staff and students, Whitman College is transitioning its printing operations. Starting this fall, all printing projects will be produced through our existing local and online partners, offering a wider range of high-quality options than ever before.
Our own Printing and Mailing Services department remains your dedicated one-stop shop for initiating and managing all your printing needs.
Your Guide to the New Process
We’ve streamlined the process to make it simple. Richard Anderson in Printing and Mailing Services will be your guide, ensuring your project is handled professionally from start to finish.
-
Plan Your Project: The most important change is the need to plan ahead. Please allow time for consultation, proofreading and print production.
-
Contact Richard Anderson: When you’re ready to start, reach out to Richard at andersrw@whitman.edu. He will discuss your project's specifications, timeline and budget.
-
Expert Management: Richard will work directly with our vetted partners to get your project produced to the highest standard. He will manage quotes, proofs and delivery for you. You will be notified when your order is ready for pickup at the Boyer House or delivered to you on campus.
Important: New Project Timelines
To ensure we can meet your needs, please note our new standard lead times:
-
Standard Projects: Please provide two weeks’ notice.
-
Rush Projects: A minimum of one week’s notice is required and will be accommodated as vendor capacity allows.
Please note: We will no longer be able to accommodate last-minute or same-day requests.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
This transition allows us to provide the Whitman community with access to a much broader range of printing capabilities, higher-quality finishes, and more versatile paper options than we could support with on-campus equipment. It ensures we can deliver professional-grade results for everything from event posters to academic publications.
Richard Anderson in Printing and Mailing Services is your point of contact. He will handle everything for you. You do not need to contact our vendors directly.
Ideally, please submit your request two weeks before you need the finished product. The absolute minimum notice for a rush job is one week. We can no longer accommodate last-minute requests due to the nature of working with external production schedules.
The payment process will remain familiar. Richard will coordinate with you to ensure your project is charged to the correct department budget code, just as before.
Yes. A proofing process is a standard part of the new workflow to ensure you are happy with the result before the full run. Depending on the project, this may be a digital proof or, in some cases, a printed proof. Richard will manage this for you.
Our printing partners have been vetted and have signed confidentiality agreements with the college to ensure all sensitive information is handled with the utmost security.
Project costs will vary based on the specifics of your order. While we cannot guarantee pricing due to market fluctuations in materials and labor, we will always work to get you the best price possible. For any project, Richard will provide a clear quote for your approval before any work begins, ensuring there are no surprises.
