SFBC Minutes - December 3, 2009
Members Present: Gary D’Agostino, Sonja Aikens, Jason Arp, Jeff Donahue, Jennifer McNeil, David Sprunger, Chris Tarvin and Karen Webb
Invited Guest: Cindy Matern, Ad-Hoc Member
The meeting was called to order at 1:15 p.m. in Memorial Building 313.
The minutes from the October meeting were approved by a motion from Jeff and were seconded by Dag. Motion carried unanimously.
Cindy provided an update on how vacation hours accrue as a result of a constituent’s feedback and what she was instructed to do to get vacation balances down by those employees where are close to or at the maximum allowed. She stated she spoke with supervisors informing them who in their departments were at the limit and to encourage them to take a vacation. It was not mandatory but if they didn’t, the employee would accrue no more time. By all the communication that was exchanged, it was agreed that the handbook needs to be updated. Cindy will work on it and run a draft by the committee.
Jeff contacted the Provost and Dean of the Faculty regarding the Child Care Report. The Dean reported that it is in the college’s strategic planning document. Bottom line is it depends on the budget and acquiring a facility. A webpage has been created as a resource and Jennifer Casper is the contact person.
There will be an Aflac meeting on December 8 at noon in Memorial Building 316. David suggested video taping the lunch meetings for people to view. After some discussion, David agreed to look into the possibility and get back to the group. Jeff mentioned that there is a video out there on Flex Spending that we should provide a link to from our site. Jennifer will update the site.
Jason presented the quiz to the committee. Corrections need to be made to number 1 and 2. Once they are updated, the committee agreed unanimously on it being released. There was some talk about discounting the lunch meetings as none of them thus far have been heavily attended. We’ll see what feed back we receive from the quiz and go from there.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:20 p.m.
Next SFBC meeting: Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 1:15 p.m., in Memorial Building 313.
