Wine to be paired with tennis at camp
Tennis, Walla Walla and wine are on the schedule for a three-day camp on the Whitman campus in July.
The first Walla Walla Tennis & Wine Camp, set for July 21-24, 2011, is open to alumni; a portion of the proceeds will benefit Whitman tennis programs.
Organizer and men's tennis Coach Jeff Northam '88 promises the perfect "blend" of tennis in the mornings — on Whitman's indoor and outdoor courts — and guided wine tasting and special dinner events in the evenings.
The camp includes nine hours of on-court instruction, drills and games with nationally recognized tennis coaches, including Northam, Whitman women's tennis Coach John Hein and Boise State University's Greg Patton.
Catered meals, two afternoons of chauffeured wine tastings and three exclusive winery dinner events will cap off the days.
The camp is limited to 24 participants at a cost of $795 per person. Inexpensive campus housing is available.
