I earned my Masters in Clinical Social Work (MSW) at the Smith College School for Social Work in Massachusetts and received my Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. I have worked for a number of years as a therapist in community mental health settings before joining the Whitman Counseling Center. As a counselor, I provide care that is warm, welcoming, authentic and trauma-informed. I have been trained in several evidence based practices, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Restructuring (EMDR), Common Elements Treatment Approaches (CETA) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression, but I also draw upon a number of other theoretical frameworks and modalities including aspects of psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindfulness-based therapy, relational therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy and others, depending on individual need. My work is grounded in the belief that trust and safety within the therapeutic relationship can create a foundation upon which we can build insight, practice self-compassion and experience self-efficacy.
