Sandy Hook Remembered and Friends of Walla Walla Spotlighted at Basketball Games Friday Night
Walla Walla, WA – A little more than basketball will be taking place at tomorrow night’s games versus Linfield, as two worthy causes will be spotlighted. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will sponsor Sandy Hook Elementary School Night while the Whitman Athletic Department will also recognize the Friends of Walla Walla program.
For Sandy Hook Night student-athletes will be staffing a table where fans can write a message of support or condolence to the victims’ families. There will also be a large poster that people can sign, which will be included with the letters, and sent in an envelope to Connecticut. Fans are also encouraged to wear green -- Sandy Hook’s school colors – to the game in honor of the victims and their families.
In addition, representatives from Friends will be on hand, providing information and answering questions about the program that matches an adult friend with a child who lacks an adult figure in their life. Also, any Friends match – an adult and their friend – will receive free admission to both games.
The Women’s game starts at 6 pm, the Men’s at 8 pm.
