Hour of Power - Harvey Pool

Whitman joined other colleges, universities and swimming clubs on Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the Hour of Power Relay, an annual swimming sprint relay which first started at Carleton College in 2006, in honor of student athlete Ted Mullin, who died from sarcoma, a rare form of soft-tissue cancer.

The relay is designed to raise funds to support research at the University of Chicago into the causes and treatment of sarcoma in young people. The first Hour of Power relay in 2006 involved 15 teams at Carleton College and raised $11,000. By 2012, over 170 teams took part nationally, raising $83,000.
