MEDIA ADVISORY: Whitman College Commencement May 20

WHEN: Sunday, May 20 – 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
WHERE: Whitman College, Memorial Building South Lawn (345 Boyer Ave.)
WHAT: About 400 students will graduate at the Commencement Ceremony in front of an estimated crowd of 4,000 students, family members, faculty, staff and guests.
SPEAKER: The Commencement speaker is Eric Schlosser, journalist and best-selling author of “Fast Food Nation.” Members of the Class of 1962 will celebrate their 50th reunion and participate in the ceremony.
PUBLIC EVENT IN ADDITION: Schlosser will deliver a short reading from “Fast Food Nation” Saturday, May 19 at 4:30 p.m. in the Young Ballroom of Reid Campus Center, with an open discussion period and book signing to follow.

PARKING: Limited parking is available around campus, with additional parking in surrounding residential neighborhoods. Many attendees choose to park downtown and walk to campus.
