WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Whitman College men's soccer team kicks off its 2010 fall season at noon today (Friday) against the University of California-Santa Cruz in an NCAA Division III neutral-site battle in Spokane, Wash.

Santa Cruz, an independent in the DIII ranks, will play two more Northwest Conference schools -- Pacific Lutheran and Whitworth -- over the next two days.

Whitworth, the weekend host, is providing live stats for today's Whitman-UC Santa Cruz encounter.

The Banana Slugs, who opened their season Wednesday with a 2-2 tie with Menlo College, was 13-5-2 a year ago when their season ended with a 2-1 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the first round of the DIII West Regionals.
