Community Service Honor
Whitman’s long tradition of service to the community was recognized when the college was named to the national 2008 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll in February 2009. Whitman’s Center for Community Service helps students, faculty and staff connect their talents with the people who need them every day.
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Center for Community Service and the Intercultural Center partnered to join communities across the nation in an afternoon of volunteer service.

The Center for Community Service in cooperation with the Community Service House, one of 11 residential interest houses at Whitman, also issued the Give 20 Challenge in January. Those who signed agreed to donate 20 hours of volunteer service this year in the Walla Walla community.
