Professor of French and Francophone Studies Sarah Hurlburt ’91 and student researcher Madeline Senter ’25 digitize and catalog nearly 2,000 photographers of Métis (“mixed race” in French) people of French and Indigenous descent taken in the mid-1800s through the mid-1900s.

Kaleo Toguchi-Tani ’25 and Eliza Daigle ’25 are the 14th and 15th Whitties to be awarded the Goldwater Scholarship since 1992. They will continue their research in the areas of astrophyics and epidemiology, respectively. The Goldwater Scholarship supports college sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue careers in the natural sciences, math and engineering.
