Eligibility requirements:
- Undergraduate degree (by August 1 of the fellowship year)
- English language proficiency
- At least 18 but not yet 29 years of age as of August 1 of the fellowship year
Award summary and conditions: The stated aim of the Schwarzman Scholars program is to prepare the next generation of global leaders. It was created to respond to the geopolitical landscape of the 21st century, from the belief that the success of future leaders will depend upon an understanding of China's role in global trends.
The program launched in 2016. It offers a one-year Master's Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing, one of China's most prestigious universities. Students live and study on the campus of Schwarzman College, a newly-built facility. All classes are taught in English.
Students pursue degrees in one of three disciplines:
- Public Policy
- Economics and Business
- International Studies
Each year, as many as 200 students will be accepted to the program: 45% from the United States, 20% from China and 35% from elsewhere in the world.
