Eligibility requirements:
- U.S. citizen
- International students attending a university located in the United States
- All applicants must be eligible to work in the US for a full 12 months from August 1 through July 31 following graduation. (Students on F-1 visas who are eligible to work in the US for the full year may apply for the program)
- Seniors and alumni who have graduated during the last academic year but have not started graduate studies.
Award summary and conditions: Each year 12-14 graduating seniors are selected to serve as research assistants to senior associates-academics, former government officials, lawyers, and journalists from around the world-to work on a variety of international affairs issues at the Carnegie Endowment in Washington, DC.
Application process: Applicants must apply through Whitman's nominating official, and up to two nominations may be forwarded; a third nominee may be forwarded if one of the three is from an underrepresented group or community. Nominating officials may submit the applications electronically or by mail.
