Eligibility requirements:
- U.S. citizen, U.S. national or permanent resident
- Graduating senior or post-graduate*
- Completed no more than 12 months of current full-time graduate study or the equivalent
- Pursuing a research-based master's or doctoral degree in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields supported by the NSF
*Note: Effective as of the 2017 competition, the NSF will limit graduate students to only one application to the GRFP, submitted either in the first year or in the second year of graduate school.
Award summary and conditions: The purpose of the National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to help ensure the vitality and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce in the United States. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in fields within the NSF's mission.
