DAAD Graduate Study Scholarship

Eligibility requirements:
- U.S. or Canadian citizens or permanent residents; foreign nationals if full-time students at an accredited U.S. or Canadian university for at least two years at time of application
- Seniors or recent graduates (within six years); graduate students enrolled full-time at an accredited U.S. or Canadian university. (Students in their first year of master's programs in Germany may apply to fund their second year.)
Award summary and conditions:
- Graduate study scholarships are granted for one academic year (10 months) with the possibility of a one-year extension for students completing a full degree program in Germany
- Scholarships must take place during the German academic year (October 1 to July 31)
- Monthly stipends are approximately €850. DAAD will cover health insurance and provide a flat rate subsidy for travel costs. In addition, limited funds are available for a rent subsidy and family allowance

Application requirements:
- Signed application form
- Resume or curriculum vitae (3 page maximum)
- Study proposal (for a master's program or a period of independent study)
- Letter of recommendation (hard copy) on university letterhead, from a professor in applicant's field of study. (This letter will not be uploaded; it will be sent as a hard copy to DAAD.)
- Letter of admission to a study program in Germany
- DAAD language evaluation (form available online)
- Transcripts
