Rebecca Zumeta Edmonds ’01 and Nat EdmondsFor Rebecca Zumeta Edmonds ’01 and her husband Nat, access and affordability are top priorities. Together, they created the Zumeta Edmonds Family Scholarship in support of Upward Together to help talented first-generation college students afford a Whitman education.

At Whitman, Rebecca majored in Psychology and Politics and minored in Education. She served as president of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, Co-Editor of the student newspaper and as a Student Academic Advisor. After Whitman, she went on to earn an M.Ed. at the University of Washington and a Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University. She currently works as a Managing Researcher at the American Institutes for Research, and Nat is a partner at Paul Hastings, LLP in Washington, DC. They live in Bethesda, Maryland, and are parents to Marie, Luke, Jack, Kathryn and Charlie. Rebecca also has a Whittie sibling, Brian Zumeta ’09 and cousin, Kyrie Thompson Kellett '00.

Fifty Under 50 is a new initiative recognizing emerging leaders in philanthropy. Members are graduates of the class of 1989 or later and have made gifts and pledges exceeding $50,000 to the campaign.
