Ahn Lee Horn ’91

In honor of her father, Ahn Lee Horn ’91 established an endowed scholarship for current students. The David Lee Styris Scholarship will help make Whitman College more accessible for exceptional students. After his tenure as a physics professor at Washington State University in the early 1970s, Styris moved to Richland to run a research lab at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory at Battelle. Although he spent much of his career working in the field of applied spectroscopy, Styris’s true passion was in theoretical physics. Horn wants her father’s legacy to be honored by helping students pursue their passions through education. As a student at Whitman, she was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, participated in orchestra and played varsity soccer and intramural sports. Horn and her husband, Douglas, have two children, including Nina Horn ’25.
