Rain couldn't dampen the spirits of Whitman graduates and their families at the college's 132nd Commencement ceremony on May 20. The Class of 2018 heard from Chairman of the Board of Trustees Brad McMurchie '84, Whitman President Kathleen Murray and class speaker Chris Meabe '18, all of whom urged their continued pursuit of knowledge and understanding. The proceedings paid tribute to honorary degree recipient John Stanton '77, returning members of the Class of 1968 and distinguished faculty. Commencement Speaker Ashifi Gogo '05, founder and CEO of global consumer protection company Sproxil, further advised graduates not to let the perfect become the enemy of the good, and added, "Go out of your way to be kind to people. It's a Whitman tradition."
