Sarah Bolton

Dr. Sarah Bolton became the 15th president of Whitman College in July 2022. She is a physicist, professor and administrator with a distinguished career in higher education. Dr. Bolton earned her Bachelor of Science in physics and biophysics from Brown University and her Master of Arts and Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Berkeley. She began her career as a faculty member at Williams College, where she later became Dean of the College. Before taking office at Whitman, Dr. Bolton was formerly president of The College of Wooster.

Dr. Bolton is a champion for the liberal arts and passionate about creating a campus where every student can learn, grow and prepare to fulfill their aspirations and make a difference in a world that needs them. In her short time at Whitman, she has energized the campus community, as well as alumni and friends of the college, in a relaunch of the strategic planning process to help advance important priorities and make the college stronger.
