Scribner Memories
Gordon "Scrib" '42 and Virginia "Ginny" Elliott Scribner '46 spent nearly 25 years of their married life in service to the college, and they continue to live in Walla Walla today.
Scrib was Whitman director of financial aid and associate director of admission (1960-66), dean of students (1967-78) and director of alumni affairs (1978-84). During those years, Ginny referred to herself as the "twofer — the wife of the administrator who hosted students and alumni alike."
Together they were active participants in the life of the college, its students, faculty, staff and alumni. Son Kevin Scribner '75, and his sisters, Karen and Megan, would like to hear from alumni, faculty and staff who have memories of Gordon and Ginny during those years, as well as their time as students. These reminiscences will join the letters and journal entries saved from the couple's 15 months as newlyweds in Europe during 1948-49, to be savored as good times had over the years.
If you have memories to share, send them to Kevin Scribner at scribfish@gmail.com.
