John Blackmon ’79 is a banking consultant specializing in opening small community banks. Blackmon received a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Washington and a graduate degree in banking from Pacific Coast Banking School. Blackmon’s community service includes work as president of First Tee of Southern Nevada; chairman of the board of Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada; and president of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, (UNLV) Rebel Football Foundation.
He was a Whitman class representative from 1993 to 2006. Blackmon and his wife, Susan, have six children and two grandchildren. He enjoys golfing, reading and collecting foreign coins.
J. Preston Frederickson ’02 is an assistant city attorney for Walla Walla, representing the city on land-use, contract, municipal law and other civil matters. He graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2005. Before returning to Walla Walla in 2006, he practiced law in downtown Seattle. He is an associate class representative, career mentor and admission volunteer. He and his wife, Doretha, have two sons and one daughter, with another child expected in December. In his free time, Frederickson enjoys biking, camping and renovating his turn-of-the-century Craftsman bungalow.
Ryan Hagemann ’94 is legal counsel and secretary for the Oregon University System. A politics major at Whitman, Hagemann worked for the Office of Admission as a student and alumnus. After graduation from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2001, he worked for the Oregon assistant attorney general and later was appointed an assistant attorney general in the Labor and Employment Section. In 2004, he joined the university system as secretary to the State Board of Higher Education. He was promoted to his current position this year. He volunteers as chairman of the Whitman (Alumni) Club of Portland Steering Committee.
Katie Santorsola ’05 is a management consultant for Deloitte Consulting and plans to pursue a master’s degree in business administration. Santorsola is a class representative, a member of the Career Consultant Network and works with the Seattle (Alumni) Club. She enjoys skiing, hiking and spending time on Whidbey Island with friends and family. She and Julien Hoisington ’02 are planning a summer 2009 wedding.
