Waiilatpu Year Books

“Waiilatpu” means “place of the rye grass,” and refers generally to Walla Walla County. It is the name of the Whitman mission grounds where the massacre occurred. The word was adopted as the title of the yearbook Whitman published annually off and on starting in 1906.
