Why you chose Whitman: When I first started looking at colleges, I was immediately struck by Whitman’s commitment to a liberal arts education. And, more specifically, how Whitman encourages students to take risks with their learning. At Whitman, learning isn’t for the sake of passing a class but rather to critically challenge and understand the world around us. 

Favorite things to do in Walla Walla: During the weekends, my friends and I love to go bowling at Stardust Lanes and visit the local farmers market (especially when sweet onions are in season)! On hot days we love to grab a scoop of honey lavender ice cream from Pine Cone Creamery! 

Favorite spot on campus: My favorite spot is Ankney Field! Especially in the fall and spring, sitting in the lush grass with a good book and friends around is my favorite way to destress. 

What advice you’d give yourself when you were going through the college process: The important question is not whether you fit into a college, but if a college fits you! 

Best class you’ve taken on campus: The most memorable class I’ve taken is Rhetoric and Stand-Up Comedy. This class changed how I view the relationship between myself, the world, and comedy. And we got to watch a new stand-up every week (which was pretty cool)! 

Favorite campus tradition: My absolute favorite campus tradition is our annual Rocky Horror Picture Show! Rocky Horror is a student run production that happens every year around Halloween. I’ve made so many amazing memories at the show each year and it’ll definitely be one of many things I’ll miss after graduation.
