Why You Chose Whitman
I chose Whitman because I was drawn to its smaller campus community. The smaller class sizes, supportive professors, and collaborative environment have given me the space to grow both academically and personally. I also loved the Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology program which for me was the best choice for pre-dentistry.
Favorite Things To Do in Walla Walla
I love attending campus and community events because I get to interact with other Whitties. The events at Whitman are also very diverse and so I get to have fun new experiences. My friends also love to go thrifting at Goodwill. I enjoy taking a bus ride with them to go check out the store. Other times we try out new restaurants and my favourite one is Sweet Basil because they have really great and affordable pizza. I love to dance too. I am part of the zumba club and every Wednesday and Friday
Best Class You’ve Taken On Campus
That would be the Modern Dance class that I took in the fall. We learnt so many new dances from different cultures and their significance in history. My favourite one was the hip-hop dances as they were really fun and easy to learn. The most challenging one was the Capoeira dance which is a martial arts dance. I just loved that our professor gave us a chance to come up with our own choreography for our midterms. This was a chance for me to work with my classmates and I was amazed at how creative everyone was. It was such a fun class, I would take it over again.
Favorite Campus Traditions
I love Taste of Africa Night because I get to showcase my culture, watch amazing performances and eat good food. My friend and I performed a dance that we choreographed and it turned out really well. I also really enjoyed meeting new people as this event brought together so many students from Whitman and also from Walla Walla University. Everyone was gorgeous in their traditional outfits and that made it such a memorable night.
Another campus tradition is climbing sticks at night with friends. It's really fun, especially when there are stars in the sky.
