Why you chose Whitman: I went to a tiny school with less than 20 people in my graduating class, and I wanted to find a place with a student-to-teacher ratio that would foster meaningful conversations and a small enough university where I wouldn’t feel overwhelmed. Additionally, since I was from a big city with high temperatures, I wanted to have the opportunity to experience nature and the typical full seasons.
Favorite things to do in Walla Walla: I love to go to the Downtown Farmer's Market, it has such an amazing atmosphere, foods, and crafts.
Favorite spot on campus: My favorite place is Lakum Duckum. It's a good pit stop to relax between classes; plus, observing the ducks is always fun!
What advice you’d give yourself when you were going through the college process: Don’t be afraid to ask questions, ask for help and use all the resources available to you. I was determined to figure it out on my own, but the college process would’ve gone a lot smoother if I just asked for more guidance.
Best class you’ve taken on campus: HIST 188-A Modern Latin America, taught by Professor Camilo E. Lund-Montano, jump-started my interest in majoring in History. It’s also still inspiring me through my senior thesis. The readings and discussions were really insightful, and the professor was really patient and passionate.
Favorite campus traditions: The Arts & Crafts Fair
