Whitman Women Outlasted by #9 Wash U.

Walla Walla, Wash. - The Whitman Women squared off with #9 Washington University Sunday, and after a solid first half of play were beaten 4-0. The Missionaries fell to 0-2 on the season as they wrapped up their pre-season trip to Missouri.
The first half was played to a stalemate at 0-0, with Whitman Goal Keeper Emily Davis making two saves to keep the score even. Whitman had two chances in the first half with Clara Merlino and Pamela London hitting shots just wide in the 13th and 25th minutes.
In the second half, Washington University came out hot as Jessica Johnson scored her first goal of the season in the 49th minute. Wash U. stepped up its pressure and scored twice in six minutes, the 59th and 65th to make it 3-0 in their favor. The Bears capped off the night with their 4th goal in the waning minutes of the match.
Whitman will head to Salem, Ore. next weekend to take on Warner Pacific College and Whittier College on the Willamette University Campus. Game times are set for 2:30pm on Saturday and 10am on Sunday.
