Atanasov, Magaway Fill Last Two Spots

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Atanas Atanasov, a Whitman College sophomore, and Pax Magaway, a sophomore from George Fox, won play-in matches Friday night to snare the last two spots in the 64-player draw of the USTA / ITA Men's Pacific Northwest Fall Championships, which gets underway Saturday morning on the Whitman campus.

Atanasov plays his first-round match at 10 a.m. on one of the outdoor courts, facing one of the No. 9 seeds, Shawn Aldrich of George Fox.

Magaway opens at 11:30 a.m. in the Bratton Tennis Center, matched against Pacific Lutheran's Reed Gunstone.

Two rounds of singles are planned for Saturday followed by two rounds of doubles.

Play continues on Sunday with the doubles final and singles semifinals and finals planned for Monday.
