Lucas McAllister ’26: Student-Athlete & Future Physical Therapist

Lucas McAllister ’26 is a Computer Science major from Brier, Washington. As a student-athlete at Whitman College, he built close connections with teammates, coaches and professors that inspired a future career in healthcare.

Lucas’ Whitman Highlights

• Captain of the men’s soccer team
• Northwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year
• Gained hands-on physical therapy training through independent study

Giving back to the Walla Walla community has been a big part of Lucas’ Whitman experience. Every year, the Whitman men’s soccer team hosts youth clinics for local athletes and organizes fundraisers to support Blue Mountain Humane Society.

As a Computer Science major, Lucas’ capstone project was a sales visualization pipeline for a local thrift store. He gained experience planning a project, managing client relationships and applying coding strategies in a real-world setting.

Lucas also explored careers beyond Computer Science. His favorite class was Human Anatomy and Physiology II (BIOL-222) with Professor of Biology Thomas Knight. He left class every day with a new fun fact and deepened his understanding of the human body.

He also had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in treating and preventing sports-related injuries through independent study with Head Athletic Trainer John Eckel.

What’s next? Inspired by his time on the field and in the classroom, Lucas plans to continue his soccer career while pursuing a future in physical therapy.
