Lucinda Richards, MSW, LSWAIC

Drug and Alcohol Counselor

Thank you for taking the time to explore my biography and learn more about me. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Bachelor of Science degree in Social Services in 2018. In 2023, I completed my Master’s Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Advanced Integrated Practice. I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Counseling and Psychological Studies, with a focus on Crisis and Trauma Counseling, to deepen my skills in the counseling field I am passionate about. I am a Licensed Social Work Associate Independent Clinical (LSWAIC) and am close to full licensure. I have three years of counseling experience, four and a half years working with peers who have experienced substance misuse, and a total of nine years of social work experience. The counseling approaches I use are CBT, DBT, Solution-focused therapy, Peer-centered therapy, Gestalt therapy, narrative therapy, and motivational interviewing.  I am genuinely passionate about working with peers who use substances because I recognize how it can affect a person’s life. I know what it’s like to be at your lowest point and not see the light at the end of the tunnel. My approach in therapy is to be genuine, authentic, empathic and hopeful. I believe that anyone can achieve recovery, and I would be honored to be part of your journey!
