All students who join a Whitman College fraternity immediately become members of the Whitman College Interfraternity Council (IFC). By uniting together under one organization, the fraternities are able to create a climate of support among the four groups. Through IFC, the Greek men increase their resources and are able to focus on issues of mutual concern such as sexual violence prevention, party safety and diversity, equity and inclusion. The IFC is led by the Executive Officers, comprised of men elected from each of the four fraternities. The Council meets weekly throughout the academic year to plan activities and conduct business that is of mutual concern to the fraternities. Sporting events, educational lectures, social functions, Greekend and recruitment are just a few of the many activities that IFC coordinates each year.

Brother Fund

The Brother Fund is a dues scholarship program implemented by IFC in 2018 to assist new fraternity members with their spring semester fraternity dues. New members who join a fraternity in the fall semester, are eligible to apply for a Brother Fund scholarship. Working in collaboration with the Financial Aid Office, IFC strives to provide financial support to new members who have the highest need.

Each spring, we reach out to fraternity alumni via Whitman’s “All In” campaign asking them to dedicate a portion of their gift to IFC. In February, IFC awards the money raised in the previous year to new members and begins the fundraising process for the next year.
