Pre-Registration Info
Spring Pre-Registration Info for Current Students
Every fall semester, current Whitman students sign up for their spring classes during pre-registration. The pre-registration period for Spring 2026 classes begins on Thursday, November 6, 2025, and runs through the end of the fall semester.
Appointment times
Each student has been assigned a pre-registration appointment time between 4:30 PM and 9:00 PM on the date indicated below. You can find your specific appointment time by visiting my.whitman.edu/registration. This is also where you will pre-register when it’s your turn.
- For the best chances of getting into your preferred classes, be sure to pre-register as soon as your appointment opens.
- If you are unable to pre-register during your assigned time (due to, for example, an athletic event, field trip, family/work situation, lack of internet access or time difference due to off-campus study, etc.), check your student email for information on how to request pre-registration assistance.

Searching for classes
The course schedule for Spring 2026 has been published. You can browse next semester’s course offerings and add sections to your course plan via the Self-Service app (my.whitman.edu > Student Tools > Course Search).
- Note that certain course sections reserve a set number of seats for members of each graduating class. Since pre-registration goes in order of graduation year, the number of available seats will be adjusted as each class’s registration appointments open up.
- Seat reservations will be shown in the description, so if a course you’re interested in appears to have a very limited capacity, check the Section Details first!
Advisor clearance
All students, with the exception of those who are currently studying off campus, must meet with their academic advisor to discuss their plans and get advisor clearance before they can pre-register. Thus, if you haven’t already met with your advisor and gotten clearance to pre-register, be sure to do so before your pre-registration appointment time. Don’t put yourself at risk of missing out on popular classes because you didn’t get cleared in time – check in with your advisor today!
Consent-only courses, academic overload, and other special circumstances
Academic overload
You may register for up to 18 academic credits and an unlimited number of activity credits during pre-registration. If you want to take more than 18 academic credits next semester, you’ll need to fill out an Academic Overload form to request permission to do so. Overload forms will be processed after Fall 2025 grades are finalized.
Course conflicts
Before you can pre-register for a course section that conflicts with one of your other classes, you must first submit a copy of the Course Conflict Resolution form, complete with signatures from both instructors, to the Registrar’s Office.
Faculty consent
If you’re planning on taking a consent-only course, you can reach out to the professor now to request they grant you Faculty Consent to pre-register for their class. Faculty are able to grant consent any time between now and the end of the registration period, but you won’t be able to pre-register for their class until consent has been granted.
- Note – many consent-only classes are worth a variable number of credits. Make sure you’re signing up for the correct number, as agreed upon by you and the professor!
Prerequisite waivers
If you want to take a class for which you’re missing one or more prerequisites, you’ll need to get a Prerequisite Waiver from the professor before you are permitted to pre-register. Faculty are able to grant prerequisite waivers any time between now and the end of the registration period.
Seat reservations
For sections that reserve seats by class year, the number of seats available for each year will be noted in the course description. Section capacities will be updated by no later than noon on your year’s pre-registration appointment day.
Waitlisted courses
If a course section you want to take fills up before you’re able to pre-register for it, you’ll be able to add yourself to the waitlist starting at 8:00 AM on Thursday, November 13 (all class years). Waitlists will continue to be available through the end of the current semester.
