Below you will find the recommendations from myself and the president’s cabinet that bring together the work done by all three of the Financial Sustainability Review committees. While much of what you will find in this document mirrors the committee reports, you will notice that the cabinet’s recommendations have evolved even from those final committee documents based on your feedback.

I know this process continues to raise questions and concerns about Whitman programs that are cherished by many. Budget cutting does not come without some loss. Please remember that at every stage, in every case possible, we have worked to maintain programs and minimize negative impact. Through all of this, I remain convinced that we will end up with a stronger Whitman, both financially and in terms of our program offerings, especially as we move into the next phase of this work focused on innovation. This will position Whitman for success both now and as we look ahead.

The next step in this process is for the board of trustees to review these recommendations and make final decisions about the outcomes of this work. The board will share their decisions with the Whitman community in the coming weeks.
