IES: Vienna Music
Through the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES), Whitman students may enroll in the IES Center in Vienna’s Music Program. This program offers the music student classes such as Music History and Music Theory, and the opportunity to enroll in the regular center courses. Home to an astounding number of legendary composers, Vienna is still the "City of Music".
“I had a fantastic, life changing experience in Vienna. I feel like my confidence, independence, maturity and understanding of the world shot up while I was abroad. Vienna will always feel like a home to me on some level, and I simply can't wait to visit all of my favorite people and places again. As a music major, I cannot emphasize how helpful being in Vienna is for musical growth. While I have always loved classical music, Vienna provided constant affordable, world-class performances at my fingertips. If I could do abroad all over again, I would absolutely still choose Vienna, and would recommend it to anybody who is interested (but ESPECIALLY music majors).” - Olivia C. '18
