CIEE: Taipei Intensive Chinese Language and Culture
Through the CIEE: Taipei Intensive Chinese Language and Culture program based at National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan, students can study Chinese language intensively and learn about this dynamic island nation first hand. The program includes several field trips to places such as the National Palace Museum, temples, porcelain works and local tea plantations. Taiwan is an excellent place to study models of Asian economic development as well as Chinese religious and cultural traditions. The National Chengchi University, known for its excellence in the social sciences, is located in Mucha, a Taipei suburb at the foot of scenic Mount Chinan.

Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 (Whitman requirement) |
Language Prerequisite: |
Two semesters of college-level Mandarin or equivalent (Whitman requirement) and one Chinese area studies course recommended by CIEE. |

Internships: |
Internships for credit are available with companies or non-governmental organizations (NGOs). |
Housing: |
University residence hall with Taiwanese roommates, or a local homestay family. |
Meals: |
Students in the residence halls and in host families are responsible for purchasing their own meals and typically eat either at the university cafeterias or at the numerous local restaurants near the campus. |
