On the IES London: Theater Studies program, Whitman students can engage in Britain's rich historical and contemporary theatrical tradition through theater and drama courses. Students see at least nine shows in London.

Fields of study:



Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. One semester of university-level study in English literature or theater.

Required Courses (3 credits each)
- Theater in London: Analyzing Text and Performance
- The Theater Industry: Inside and Out

Students take three additional 3-credit courses through IES Theater Studies, IES Study London, direct enrollment at a local university, and/or a theatre-related internship.

Credit Conversion:

1 IES credit = 1 Whitman credit


Nido King's Cross Residence Hall located in central London.  Students share a double room with another IES Abroad student.


Students are responsible for preparing their own meals in their residence hall kitchen or purchasing meals in restaurants.


Theater-related internships are available.  Internships are competitive, and internship applications are due May 1 for fall semester and October 1 for spring semester
