Through the Institute for Study Abroad at Butler University, Whitman students may enroll in the Glasgow School of Art in Glasgow, Scotland.  Glasgow is a vibrant city with a population of 650,000.  It is home to the national Scottish companies of ballet, opera, orchestra and chorus.  It offers two repertory theatres, the Glasgow Film Theatre, galleries and museums.  Serious studio art students who attend the IFSA-Butler: Glasgow School of Art can expect to spend 30-35 hours a week in the studio working on independent projects under faculty supervision.

“I was able to spend 6-8 hours in the studio each weekday, and I feel like that time to focus solely on art greatly improved me. I also enjoyed being surrounded by artists because it helped encourage my own creativity and pushed me to work harder. I made good friends and was able to travel around quite a bit. The program offers a lot of freedom, both in what kind of art you choose to produce and in how you want to do it.” - Natalie S. ‘15
