IES: University College London (UCL)
Through the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES), Whitman students may enroll directly at University College London (UCL). Located in the Bloomsbury area of London, University College London (UCL) enrolls more than 23,000 students representing more than 140 countries. UCL is one of the top ranked universities worldwide and boasts more than 21 Nobel Prize winners.
“My favorite aspect of this term was the independence that I had, both in terms of my schedule and how easy it was to get around London and the UK. Going from Whitman’s packed course schedules and rural location to UCL’s more independent schedule (about two hours of lecture per class per week--you’re expected to do more research on your own) was a really freeing change...I particularly recommend UCL to anyone interested in lots of independent travel, direct immersion in the host culture, and/or taking classes in specialized topics not available at Whitman.” - Anneka S.
