Through IES, Whitman students can study in Milan, a modern city know for its world-class art, architecture, design, and fashion. The Italy Today program offers students courses in liberal arts and social sciences, all of which address aspects of contemporary Italian society.

Fields of study:

Italian language, art history, film studies, history, music, politics, psychology, and sociology

Eligibility:

Minimum cumulative GPA requirement 2.8 (Whitman requirement)

None

Credits:

15-19 credits per semester - Required Courses:
IES Abroad Italian language course (4 or 6 credits)
IES Abroad area studies courses (3 or 4 courses, 3 credits each)
Internship and Seminar (optional, 3 credits)

Credit Conversion:

1 IES credit = 1 Whitman credit

Internships:

Internships are available in a variety of areas including advertising, art galleries, business, education, fashion, finance, marketing, media/publishing, psychology, and theater.

Housing:

Apartments with other IES Abroad students and with Italian roommates called Community Assistants (CAs), Homestays with Italian families

Meals:

Apartment: Students typically cook breakfast and dinner for themselves and eat lunch at university cafeterias or nearby restaurants.
Homestay: Breakfast and dinner are provided by the host family.  Students eat lunch at university cafeterias or nearby restaurants.
