Parents Fund supports scholarships
The Parents Fund Scholarship Endowment directly funds a core Whitman priority: support for financial aid packages to allow as many deserving students as possible to attend the college. Parents participating in the 2008–09 Parents Fund were the first to contribute to the new scholarship endowment. The 2009–10 Parents Fund, again under the leadership of Chairman George Logan (children, Kate ’08 and Michael ’11), raised $230,017 for the scholarship. The fund drew the support of 33 percent of Whitman parents.
Parents Fund scholarships are essential to recruit and retain outstanding students from a wide variety of backgrounds. Tuition covers only 60 percent of the actual cost of each student’s education. Overall, parents raised $1,074,212 to support a variety of projects for the college in 2009–10.
