New men’s basketball, women’s tennis coaches
Eric Bridgeland has taken the helm of the Missionary men’s basketball team, replacing longtime coach Skip Molitor, who is now assistant athletic director for the college. Bridgeland was an assistant coach and recruiter at NCAA Division I Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif. He coached at the University of Puget Sound from 2001 to 2006. In his final three seasons, UPS earned three consecutive conference titles and trips to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16.
John Hein, the new women’s tennis coach, was an assistant women’s tennis coach at University of California, Santa Cruz, from 1999 through 2003 before turning his focus to earning a master’s degree. During the past year, Hein coached in London, England, where his wife, Molly, studied for her Ph.D.
